This Neighbourhood Profile Summary can help you to find out more about the East Area Development Framework and its' Neighbourhoods

Clifton

The area is best know for Clifton Park which provides the residents valuable access to green space and the facilities within the park such as the Museum. It also benefits greatly from its location within walking distance of the town centre shops, community facilities and its public transport network, the playing fields and sporting facilities at Herringthorpe leisure centre. The housing consists of turn of the century terraced properties and semi detached properties, a number of the larger detached properties have been converted for business use, the area also contains Rotherham’s only high-rise development that has excellent views across Rotherham.

Dalton

Dalton has under gone a great deal of change as the terraced housing that once occupied the area have now been demolished and new housing has been constructed with a mix of housing association and private properties. Dalton is on the main A630 road into Rotherham and benefits from the regular bus service between Doncaster and Sheffield, to aid this a quality bus corridor has been developed, although the area does suffer from the high levels of traffic.

East Dene

East Dene consists of predominantly terraced and semi detached properties and due to the design of the area there is limited off street parking giving rise to access problems. There is little green space, although the residents do have access to Valley Park, Clifton Park, the playing fields and facilities at Herringthorpe leisure centre, and the library and swimming pool at Mowbray Gardens.

East Herringthorpe

East Herringthorpe is predominantly made up of semi detached properties that have been built on the west and north facing slopes to the east of Herringthorpe Road although there are a number of flats in the area. The area has little provision for green space but does have good access to Valley Park, which is adjacent.

Herringthorpe

The housing stock in the area is predominately semi detached, along with a number of sheltered bungalows at Longfellow Drive. The area benefits from the access to green space at Valley Park, the playing fields and facilities at Herringthorpe leisure centre. It has a small library and a number of shops located on Browning Road.

Eastwood

The area is spilt into two distinct area’s by the A630 Fitzwilliam Road one of the main gateways into Rotherham, Eastwood Village is made up of mainly terraced properties that have benefited from the regeneration scheme in the area which has included security improvements, property improvements and provision of a green space. On the other side of Fitzwilliam Road properties are mainly smaller semi-detached houses and like many of the neighbourhoods in Rotherham East the area suffers from parking problems due to its layout. It benefits from its location within walking distance of the town centre shops, community facilities and its public transport network. It also has access to Clifton Park and the canal side, which runs through the area.
